"a little assistance"
Sept 2005. 11" x 14", mixed media on stretched canvas

After hurricane Katrina hit the Gulf Coast, I painted this. Not only was it a reaction to the events, but it was an item I wanted to sell and donate the profits to help aide in the relief efforts. I haven't used canvas in about 5 years, but I figured it'd sell better than paper. Sometimes creative decisions happen like that. Plus, I had a couple just lying around. Turns out that I don't think I can ever go back to paper.

Anyhow, as a single artist, I didn't think that I alone could make enough of a difference, so I called in artists from around the world to contribute to Art For Katrina, a spontaneously created project designed to amplify my own intent to aide. I created a handful of artworks for this.
